I Love You Vintage ♥

Vintage by Fluss

I have a serious problem.

I compulsively buy vintage. I can’t resist walking up to old ladies and telling them I love their cameo pins. I dig through nasty crap at thrift stores just to try to find an old brooch or necklace.

I love it.

What is it about vintage that just makes me (and so many other people) just fall in love? What is it about pin-up girls that is so alluring and sexy? Sepia, toned down colors, high waisted panties and garters, red lips- it all makes for such a head rush of…awesome!

Not to mention…oxford shoes!! They’ve made such a comeback lately, along with nude lace, damask print, and the fabulous sailor stripe.

This was made by Fluss on DeviantArt

Women from the ‘old days’ wore red lips and pretty ringlets and held their composure no matter what! They talked intelligently and knew just how to manage crowds and arrogant men. If that isn’t beautiful then what is?

I was kind of sad to find out that my ‘vintage phone’ was from Tj Maxx haha! Well…I got it for free anyway and it’s still really cool.

So I have a funny story about this pretty necklace. This older lady (who I like, love!) was wearing this and I told her how much I loved it and guess what she did? She took it right off her neck and put it on mine! I stood there stunned, saying “Are you sure?” and “Thank you!”

Later last night I looked on the back and inscribed is the word “Avon”.

Avon used to be called The California Perfume Company but changed to the name they have now in 1939.  I’ve found old necklaces from Avon all over the internet with chains similar to the necklace I have but I can’t find this anywhere!

I love when I go to people’s houses and they have old pictures in beautiful frames!

Betty Grable’s picture was in many a soldier’s locker during WWll. Her legs were insured for a million dollars!

And who could ever forget the amazing flapper girls?

Vintage will always inspire me and be something of beauty. When things go in and out of style, vintage pieces will always be staples in my wardrobe. This can’t go out of style for me! The women of old times will always be my role models for their classy style, impeccable social skills, and all around beauty- whether it be on the outside or the glow within them.

What do you love most about vintage?

New Stuff (Hell Yeah Baby!)

I’ve decided to make this post two posts. It’s so long!

Here’s part one :)

So last week I finally got out of my house. The sun was so bright and it was nice and cold out so I got to wear my favorite cardigan and scarf! I’ve always been a fan of cold weather…don’t ask why because I don’t even know ;) BUT it wasn’t snowy so I got to wear my oxford shoes!

The first thing I got on this fabulous excursion was this shirtdress from Old Navy.

Sorry for the blurry picture. My phone thwarts me at every turn, I swear!
Haha I didn’t buy the fat kitty! And I only put this picture up because she’s just adorable (aww)
Hot Pockets!

It was seven bucks!!  Paired with a skinny belt and a cardigan it looks amazing. I wear super thick opaque tights with it because it is short and on a bigger frame that can be really unflattering.

I also got this key necklace at a store called Vanity.

It was four bucks! I was lucky to find it because it was the last one and was hidden behind some stuff (I think maybe someone wanted to hide it haha but you snooze you lose).

I’d been borrowing this bag for EVER but I finally went and got my own!

Haha there’s Linx again!

I think this was about 40 at TJ Maxx. This is probably the only BIG Kathy Van Zeeland bag I’ve seen. The other ones are usually cinched around the middle, making it really hard to dig around and find stuff in them.

It’s gorgeous, but a pain in the arse…

What good deals have you gotten lately?

Also, tomorrow is the first Sexy List since I’ve been back! Yay!

High Fashion Hair Bows! How To Make Them :D

Hair bows are my all time favorite accessory!

I think bows can go with anything. You can use materials (like silk, satin, velvet) to create a dressy one or  other ones (like cotton, polyester) to wear on regular casual days.

Audrey Kitching

I’ve loved bows for a really long time but they’ve been made popular by the likes of Audrey Kitching, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and many other celebrities and models. This tutorial will show you how to make a hair bow. You can use this to make a bigger or smaller one and you can always add stuff too!

I loved these undies but I never wore them (they were very uncomfortable) but at least I can wear them now!

You’ll need:

  • A half yard of fabric ( you will need less than that but we’re going to cut a piece from it)
  • A needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • Glitter glue, rhinestones, buttons, iron on stickers, or anything you want to put on it (totally optional)

I used a highlighter haha!

I put dashes along the rectangle to cut out. I always put two pieces of fabric on top of each other and cut them at once to save time. You can make these pieces as big or small as you’d like. :)

Get out your thread! :D

It doesn’t really matter which kind you use since it’s going to be on the inside of the bow.

I hope you're having fun!

Sew around the edges. Take care to make your stitches small so that they’re strong! Stop sewing when there’s about a centimeter left to sew.

Almost done!

Turn the rectangle normal-side-out through the centimeter-wide hole you left when you were sewing. It will be sort of hard but just keep pulling the fabric through…it will come eventually (it doesn’t take long). If you want (or if your bow is going to be big) you can stuff it to make it poofy. Cut a small piece of fabric. This is what will go around the bow (then it will look like a bow and not a rectangle).

I used the part of the underwear where that cute little button was! The little strip of fabric only needs to be about an inch and a half (at the most) but it can be bigger or smaller depending on the size you make it. :)

For this little piece of fabric, sew it the way you did the perimeter of the rectangle and turn it right-side-out so that the stitches are on the inside. It should make a ring or circle.

I feel like making a huge one and wearing it to school now!

Put the rectangle that you made through the ring of fabric and pull it to the middle. When you’re done with this you can decorate it with whatever you want. Then you’re done!

I decorated mine with glitter glue ( I spread it with my fingers. :)

You can put a headband through the loop or a bobby pin to attach it to your hair.

Thanks for reading!!

xoxo :)

LeeLovely…

P.S. Were my directions easy enough to follow? What’s your favorite hair accessory?

Is There Anything Wrong With Color?

Don't be afraid to wear color!

Absolutely NOT! I decided to write this post because I’ve  been seeing far too many people dressed all in black. This is okay if you’re rocking the “goth” look (and even they wear colors) but the everyday person usually isn’t going for that look. People wear black a lot of the time because they say “it’s slimming” and yes, it is – to an extent. If you weigh 130 pounds dressing head to toe in all black will not make you look like you weigh 100 pounds.

As a society, we place far too much emphasis on how much  we weigh. Adults have this problem and teenagers fall victim to this quite a bit. I couldn’t count how many times I hear students at my school saying how they think they’re fat when they weigh hardly anything at all.

Our teenage years should be about having fun with style and having fun, not obsessing over weight!

Many people also wear dark colors or neutrals because they simply don’t know how to wear colors or they don’t feel like making a big deal about their clothing. If this sounds like you, maybe try just rocking one bold, colorful piece of clothing or accessory. Or just take a chance! Wear something crazy!

I believe you can wear anything you want as long as you have confidence. It’s the ultimate accessory.

So lets not obsess over our weight or be afraid to rock some killer  style!

The way I always look at it when I worry about something like my weight or what I’m wearing is this: people are going to think what they want anyway. For every person who doesn’t like what you’re wearing, there will be 2 or more people who do.

It doesn’t matter what you wear or how strange you think you may look, it’s the confidence you rock along with that smashing ensemble. These are the best years of our lives. We should be gossiping and wearing whatever we want!

Never be afraid to rock color!

But please my loves, at least match. Never:

Make sure you don't clash!

P.s. What advice do you have for wearing crazy things? What crazy things have you rocked?
